Stray animals in Kosovo:
a problem worthy of attention

• As a result of the war, the government and people were busy rebuilding the country, leaving animals to their fate.
• Many people left abroad after the war to find work elsewhere and generate income.
• More than half of Kosovars currently live abroad, which means that many older people bear the responsibility for animals, which is often too heavy a burden.
• Kosovo is not a a member of the European Union, which limits financial support.
• There are only few veterinarians in Kosovo who have the resources and equipment to help stray animals, which means that volunteers often have to travel long distances have to travel long distances and incur high costs. Although on a small scale animals are castrated and sterilized, the need is so great that these efforts have little effect.

With our approach we aim to change this situation by focusing on intensive spaying and neutering activities, as well as caring for weak and sick animals. We invite everyone, both in Kosovo and beyond, to participate in this project out of love for animals. We have already received several responses from volunteers and veterinarians who want to to participate in this project. We will support veterinarians throughout Kosovo with supplies and equipment for their practices, as well as with a small financial contribution so that they can help animals without charging charging for animals rescued from the streets." Others are also welcome; no one will be excluded! Everyone will receive equal support, help and reward.

Only through joint efforts can we achieve results and reduce animal suffering.
